Education at this level is free and compulsory, and Hungarian citizens must study for about 8 to 10 years in primary school, and then, in order to enter high school and higher courses, they must take an exam and after passing that exam (earning the required score), they are allowed to continue their studies in higher levels. Primary school education consists of two levels that start from the age of 6 and students can apply for the exam after 8 years.
