After completing your studies in university and after graduation, if you have a job offer, a one-year residence permit will be issued for you which is extendible.
Mexican citizenship through investment
One of the ways to get a residence permit in Mexico and eventually obtain the citizenship of Mexico is to invest in Mexico. Mexico is a member of the World Trade Organization and has a growing economy. Mexico grants citizenship to applicants in return for investing in business, services or real states. The programs and the number of citizenships that are granted through this method are limited.
In the normal investment method, you have to invest 185,000 euros in business or service plans that are approved by the government of this country. You will initially be granted a temporary residence permit and after 4 years you will get a permanent residence permit and after 5 years you will be granted the Mexican citizenship.
Instead of investing this amount, you can buy a property in Mexico for 185 thousand euros. Mexico accepts dual citizenship. In this method you do not need to be present in Mexico and this process takes between 3 to 5 months.
Another type of investment in Mexico is company registration and entrepreneurship in Mexico, which will not lead to getting a residence permit itself. In joint stock companies, the initial capital is 5 million pesos and two investors can be shareholders of this company. Limited liability companies are established with a minimum capital of 300,000 pesos. After 4 years of working and paying taxes, the investor can apply for a permanent residence permit in Mexico.
Mexican citizenship through birth
When it comes to granting citizenship countries follow two rights/laws: the right of soil (Jus soli) and the right of blood (Jus sanguinis). The rules in countries that will follow the right of soil for granting their citizenship are such that if a child is born in the territory of these countries, the child will automatically have the citizenship of that country and become a citizen of that country. Mexico follows the right of soil for granting its citizenship. Therefore, a child who is born in Mexico will have Mexican citizenship.
Mexican citizenship through marriage
According to the marriage law in Mexico, if a person marries a Mexican citizen or a person who has a residence permit in Mexico, he or she can apply for a Mexican residence card. A person who is a resident or citizen of Mexico must have evidences that prove he/she is single, employed and has the financial ability to pay for his or her spouse’s residence expenses.
Initially, a one-year residence permit is issued for the spouse. And this residence permit will be extended annually. If they have been married for more than three years, they can apply for a Mexican permanent residence card and then apply for Mexican citizenship after 2 years.
Mexican citizenship for asylum seekers
This is one of the worst and most dangerous ways to immigrate to Mexico. An asylum seeker is a person who has no financial means or is in danger in his or her home country, and in order to survive has to apply for asylum in countries that are party to the Geneva Convention. Currently, the conditions for checking the cases of asylum seekers are very strict, and asylum seekers do not have good accommodation conditions. The future of asylum seekers around the world is very uncertain.
